Much as the rest of you, the staff is so very ready to get back to normal, however that may look. Please understand we have safety precautions to implement as do many other businesses. With the stay at home order lifted, we still must follow the social distancing requirements. What that means for us and the community is a different way of using the library.
On Monday, May 11th we will begin curbside service only. The library will still not be open to the public. We will only be able to take returns or provide you with new checked out items at the curbing. Now, understand this will be most of the libraries in this area so we are not putting off working at all. Our task is to make sure each and every person in this community is healthy and safe from possible contagion. Until we receive confirmation from the state and local health officials we cannot go back to business as usual. At this time it is estimated that by mid June all libraries will begin to relax and go back to regular hours of operation. Some safety measures will remain for a while.
What you CAN DO is call us Monday-Friday from noon to 5:00 pm. Give us a list of what you might like to read or a movie you would like to see. Until the delivery service begins again, all patrons will be limited to those items that belong to OUR library, Interlibrary loans will not be immediately available. Staff will check the items out to your account and meet you at the curbing for pick-up. All accounts must be current in order to take advantage of the pre-opening service.
What we are asking everyone to do is bring your borrowed items to the library this week so we are able to get them checked in. We will have the return tub outside the front door everyday this week from Noon to 4:00 p.m. Please place your items in a plastic grocery or Walmart bag to keep items together. This simple act will enable us to be ready on Monday to serve you, our most important patrons. We also thank those who have already made their returns. Please be safe and stay healthy! Until next time……..
